Fumee Lake Natural Area Walks

The Fumee Lake Natural Area is great place to get outside and check out nature. Spring and early Summer are great times to visit the area as everything starts to green and flower, especially after this years long winter! 

Here are a couple of early season events:

Sat May 31, 7am 
The Fumee Lake Commission invites the public to participate in their annual guided Bird Watching walk at the Fumee Lake Natural Area.

Warblers, Loons & Bald Eagles are a few of the species that may be seen on the walk. This is an easy walk at a slow pace on easy terrain. Walking distance is just over 1 mile and will last 2-3hrs.

Meet at the East parking lot off the Upper Pine Creek Rd (off US2 between Quinnesec and Norway). Participants should dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. A bird guide and binoculars are suggested. Photographers are encouraged to bring their cameras.


Sat June 7, 8am 
The Fumee Lake Commission invites the public to participate in their annual guided Wildflower walk at the Fumee Lake Natural Area.

Trilliums, Wild Ginger and Orchids are some of the flowers that may be seen. This is an easy walk at a slow pace on easy terrain. Walking distance is just over 1 mile and will last 2-3hrs.

Meet at the East parking lot off the Upper Pine Creek Rd (off US2 between Quinnesec and Norway). Participants should dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

A flower guide is suggested. Photographers are encouraged to bring their cameras.

There is no charge to participate and a County park sticker in not required.
